published in Neurology, a proper diet can stop brain shrinkage and boost mental performance. On the other hand, eating a poor diet with high levels of trans fat and fewer vitamins and minerals
has the opposite effect.
In the study, people with more vitamin B, C, D and E in their blood performed better in tests of memory and thinking skills. Those with higher levels of omega-3 fats also performed better,
while the worst scores belonged to those with the highest levels of trans fats. Trans fats are commonly found in fried and processed food.
A proper diet should contain ample vegetables and fruit with regular fish, nuts and other lean protein. Make an effort to avoid processed and packaged foods.
